CLERGY

It is with great joy and high confidence that I announce to you that the vestry has selected our new rector – The Reverend Katherine Sedwick.

The decision to elect her was unanimous.

We have found Katherine+ to be warm, caring, wise, spiritually deep and an outstanding priest. She began her ministry here at St. Michael’s and All Angels on Wednesday, March 20th and her first Sunday was Palm Sunday.

Prior to her ministry here, she was the rector of St. Luke’s, Minneapolis serving approximately 200 families. She has been in Minneapolis seven years. Previously Katherine lived in Redmond and Bellevue and was Associate Rector at Trinity Parish Church in downtown Seattle. There she was integral to the earthquake rebuilding and fundraising.

We started our search with the Vision-based Parish Profile that we developed as a parish and the Rector Profile that grew out of that vision.

We said

“We are looking for a new rector whose deep Anglican roots, passion for drawing faith into action, rapport with many ages, truly caring spirit, and catalytic leadership bear a strong family resemblance to our own. We are inviting a creative ‘senior partner’ into our ministry, someone who will recognize the best in us, challenge our growing edges, and help us make the most of the gifts God has given us.”

Katherine is the person who meets these criteria. Her recommendations from everywhere she has served are stellar.

Katherine's husband, Michael works in non-profit senior housing and loves to sail. Both enjoy kayaking and hiking. He is very involved in the church, singing bass in the choir and working with the acolytes. For a time, Mike will remain in Minneapolis to sell their home.

Their daughter Rachel, 20, is an actor and a runner. Katherine+ and Michael are looking forward to being closer to their daughter Annie, 27, who lives in Seattle, and Katherine’s mother on the Eastside. Katherine+ is a lifelong Episcopalian, and the daughter of an Episcopal priest who also served this diocese.
